We will explore the world of Shakespeare – the language, the history, and the intrigue! As we study this mastermind's writings, his vivid imagery, intricate thought, and meaningful themes will serve as an inspiration to help us develop literary and rhetorical skills. We will act out scenes, memorize soliloquies, and bring the thespian out in all of us! After all, “the play’s the thing!” Come prepared to engage in lively discussions and conversations centered around analyzing universal themes, thoughts, and truths found in the plays. The class is an in-depth study of 6 Shakespearean plays. This comprehensive language arts and literature studies course will cover writing, vocabulary, spelling, and reading comprehension while promoting active reading and reflective thinking. Discussing world views through a Christ-centered perspective will expose students to various ideas and beliefs. Memorizing and performing soliloquies is expected. The course will culminate with an optional theatrical production of either a scene or potentially a full act.
