This is a geography class for middle schoolers. We will be utilizing the book Geography through Art. We will explore people, food, and art of areas around the world. This is an interactive class with lectures, art projects and occasionally even cooking!

Parents and students should expect homework that should take approximately one hour per week. This may consist of worksheets, independent study of certain areas, or work on projects.

There will be two projects due for this class. One each semester. Students will be assigned an interesting geographical location, of their choosing. They will be responsible for researching this area they will provide a research style paper, and also a visual presentation. Working on an independent research project like this will help your student develop independent study skills, it will help their management skills, and it will also help get them comfortable speaking in front of small groups.

Students will need:

3 ring binder

Pencil

Colored pencils
