This class will explore the American government through a Christian worldview. Students will study the American government from its foundation to the present, using the Constitution and current events to understand the functions of our federal government and their role as future voters. Constitutional Amendments will be analyzed for how they affect our daily lives as Americans. Landmark Supreme Court cases are also discussed weekly. The 2024 election will be an opportunity to learn about the election process as current events unfold.
Students will work in partners and in group situations to do problem-based and real-world learning as the American government comes alive.
Homework will routinely consist of a book unit weekly, as well as supplemental readings and videos. Assignments are varied, but often require strategic thinking and expressing the student's opinion in written form.
