Think Tank 1 is a fun and engaging class, designed especially for 4th - 6th graders with dyslexia or who generally struggle with reading and writing. While not a remedial class, DISCOVER Language Arts is especially for kids who need a slightly slower pace for mastering their reading and writing skills. Academic overview:

  • Two novels per semester

  • Reading comprehension

  • Basic grammar practice

  • Weekly handwriting practice

  • Weekly spelling lessons

  • Weekly dictation practice

  • Creative writing prompts

Students will discover beautiful literature through lots of read aloud time in class, short stories, and poetry. Weekly classes will be paced for the current student body, and will include learning games, fun worksheets, oral dictation and presentations, and a holistic dive into the historical, cultural, and fine arts aspects of whatever novel is being read.

Student Requirements:

  • 4th grade (or 9 years old) and up

  • Ability to learn in a class environment

  • Respectful behavior and self-regulation

Think Tank 1 is taught by Mrs. Kristy Howard, a seasoned homeschool educator with years of experience teaching (and parenting) dyslexic kids. Her goal for this class is to help students build skills and confidence, and draw out their natural creativity and curiosity.

Submit a registration inquiry below, and Mrs. Howard will contact you about an interview. All students must be approved before officially being enrolled in the Think Tank program.
