3RD GRADE READING
A great reading class for the 3rd grade student includes a combination of guided reading and independent reading exercises. Our goals will be to increase fluency, with a focus on comprehension. Using fun, interactive class games, students will grow in their recognition of complex word families to decode unfamiliar words.
The overall goal for 3rd graders is that they can understand the book they read and the books that are read to them. Students will be taught how to use word contexts to find meanings of unfamiliar words.
Increased vocabulary development will help students to create more in-depth sentences in their writing. Practice with using a dictionary will help in this endeavor.
