ELEMENTARY SPANISH: GRADES 2 AND 3

This class will give beginning Spanish learners a good foundation for further language study. They will be introduced to concepts that every language learner needs to know, such as the alphabet, numbers, colors, days of the week, months of the year, and basic conversational words and phrases.

The class will be vocabulary based, so we will do units over topics such as food, animals, school, body parts, etc.

The class is also designed to help students relate their language learning to things they experience in everyday life, so topics such as seasons, holidays, and related ideas will also be incorporated.

Students will also be introduced to basic writing and reading in Spanish. Various means will be used to reinforce the concepts being introduced, such as picture dictionaries, worksheets, music, hands-on activities, games, story books, etc. Attention will be given to pronunciation and being able to recognize what words sound like. Overall, the goal is to give these young learners a good language learning foundation as well as a positive experience!
