GEOMETRY AGS


 

Geometry is an advanced course covering the mathematics of triangles, rectangles, circles, angles, and other shapes and lines. This course will also utilize definitions, postulates, logic expressions, and theorems, classical components of Geometry.


The AGS text provides students with all the concepts and skills they need to succeed in a first-year Geometry course. The content provides students of all abilities with essential preparation in problem solving, and application lessons that demonstrate how geometry is integrated with related content areas such as algebra, probability, and statistics.

Points, Lines, and Dimensions, Angles, Equal Angles, Triangles, Right Triangles and the Pythagorean Theorem, Perimeter, Area of Parallelograms, Area of Triangles and Irregular Shapes, The Parts of a Circle, Finding Circumference Measurements, Area of a Circle, Diameter, Radius, Circumference, and Area, Word Problems with Perimeter, Circumference, and Area, Volume of Rectangular Solids, Volume of a Pyramid, Volume of a Cylinder, Volume of a Sphere, Word Problems with Volume, Number Lines, The Coordinate Plane, Graphing Lines on the Coordinate Plane, Linear Equations, and Slope.

Curriculum/Required Text(s): Geometry Text and Workbook from AGS The Center will rent the text for $20 per year. The workbook can be purchased in the bookstore. Teacher's Edition - rent in the CHE bookstore for $20 Required Materials: Compass, Protractor, Scientific Calculator, pencil/pen, and notebook to take plenty of notes. Class Prerequisites: Algebra 1
