WORLD HISTORY

World History at its finest!

A unique approach to World History, using a multi-disciplined method. Developing a historic context weaving materials by Diana Waring and other outside sources, we'll explore the rise of

the Church and the fall of Rome, the Byzantines, the rise of Islam, the Holy

Roman Empire, Crusades, Renaissance, Reformation, the Great Awakening, the American and French Revolutions. Each student will also have the opportunity to dig deeper into aspects that are interesting to them.

This class is not about memorization of facts or dates but about experiencing history for better retention of the material. The student should expect to learn via music, videos, stories, reading, writing, art, and creating displays. Each of the 9 units will take around a month to complete, and each unit will have an ending project of the student's choice from many options given. Students will also be expected to complete ongoing self-evaluations during the course.

Homework will vary by week, but your student should expect to spend at least 3 hours a week working on this course.
