FLUENCY & COMPREHENSION: READER'S THEATRE

This one hour class will incorporate reading aloud and repetition to increase comprehension. We will read three novels throughout the year. After we read the novel, we will work on a matching reader’s theater script to improve comprehension and fluency. At the end of each semester, we will perform a reader’s theater script during a recital. (Students will hold and read their scripts.) This class will concentrate on the beauty of the written word in a low-pressure environment. There will be no essay writing. Rather, we will focus on reading fluency, spelling, and vocabulary.

We will use:

Words By Heart, The Bronze Bow, and The Light in the Forest.
