Tap dancing is an expressive dance form that creates music through the striking of metal taps against the floor. It integrates rhythm, syncopation, and the production of sound alongside traditional dance movements, focusing heavily on musicality, expression, and the art of improvisation. In this introductory course, students will acquire basic tap techniques and vocabulary, along with essential skills in balance and body alignment.

Throughout the course, students will be provided with handouts detailing the origins and evolution of tap dance, including profiles on iconic tap dancers. To reinforce learning, a quiz will be administered during the 2nd Semester. Quizzes will be conducted via Google Classroom.
Required course materials:
1. Tap dance shoes.
2. Folder with pockets for organization
3. Pencil
4. Pen
5. Highlighter for marking important notes.
6. Wearable attire such as leggings, joggers, t-shirts, or shorts for comfort
7. A water bottle for hydration in every session
8. A hand towel, as tap dancing provides a good physical workout.
9. Performance outfit details will be determined closer to the showcase events.
