Consumer Math is a high school level math class designed to teach students about personal finances and practical applications for math in their everyday life. We will explore many real life situations and questions such as: How do I file a tax return? What is a credit score? How much of my paycheck will be withheld for taxes? How much rent can I afford? How do I calculate a budget?

- Checking and Savings Accounts
- Balancing a Budget
- Paying Bills
- Filing Taxes
- Insurance (health, home, and auto)
- Loans (home and auto) and Interest
- Smart Shopping
- Credit Scores
- Investing
Supplies:
- Spiral notebook
- Folder with pockets
- Pencils
- Highlighter
- Calculator
Homework:
Students should expect to spend approximately 1-2 hours per week completing assignments and reviewing the material taught in class.
Placement:
Algebra 1 is a prerequisite for Consumer Math.
