Five in a Row is a relaxed, engaging, literature-based class designed for students in grades 3 through 5. This extended 1.5-hour weekly class allows time to slow down, think deeply, and enjoy meaningful learning through great books.

Students will explore a carefully selected picture book or short chapter book, then discuss the story and connect it to hands-on activities and creative projects. Some books may be explored over more than one week to allow for deeper discussion and thoughtful exploration.

Through each book, students will make connections across subjects, including reading comprehension and vocabulary, writing and narration, art, science and nature, geography, history, and simple STEM activities. Lessons are designed to encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration without making students feel rushed or overwhelmed.

Light homework may be assigned to support learning between classes. This class is a great fit for students who are ready for longer discussions, growing independence, and joyful learning through literature.
