Geometry is the study of how points, lines, angles, planes/surfaces, and solids can be used in the world all around us. In this course, we will examine the size, shape, and position of 2D shapes and 3D figures, and explore how this knowledge can be useful throughout your life. 


Units in this course include:

- Points, Lines, and Angles in the Plane

- Parallel Lines and Transversals

- Lines in the Coordinate Plane

- Triangles and Quadrilaterals

- Congruent Triangles and Transformations

- Proportion and Similarity

- Pythagorean Theorem

- Perimeter and Area

- Circles and Spheres 

- Measurements of Solid Geometric Figures

Homework:

Students should expect to spend approximately 2 hours per week completing assignments and reviewing the material taught in class. Assignments may include lessons from the textbook or worksheets provided in class. 


Placement:

Algebra 1 is a prerequisite for Geometry
