For ages 11-13. 

This is a comprehensive language arts and literature studies course that will cover writing, vocabulary, spelling, and reading comprehension while promoting active reading and reflective thinking. In this class, students will not only receive exposure to the elements of language, writing methods, and grammar, but will also explore the world of literature through games and activities.  The students' reading and writing skills will be challenged and refined through classroom instruction, guided practice, and at-home assignments.Students need to read and write at the 5th-grade level. This is not a remedial class. 

SUPPLIES NEEDED

1. The Good and Beautiful Level 6 course (book only) 

2. Creative Writing Journal

3. Novels with the Progeny Press study guide

4. Spiral Notebook/ binder with notebook paper. 

5. Pencils & highlighters

Novels that will be read throughout the year:

• Holes by Louis Sachar 

• The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis

• Harry Potter by J.K Rowling

HOMEWORK

Please plan to spend 3-6 hours each week reading the assigned chapters and completing homework assignments.
