Elementary Language Arts (Grades 4–5)

In this engaging course, students will develop strong reading, writing, and communication skills while enjoying a variety of creative activities. Through stories, games, group conversations, and writing projects, students will build comprehension, grammar, spelling, and speaking confidence.

Each week includes a spelling test to support vocabulary growth, along with independent reading time that helps students improve fluency and understanding. Students will write stories, paragraphs, and responses while learning proper grammar and how to organize their ideas clearly and creatively.

This course encourages curiosity, imagination, and a lifelong love of reading and writing.

Science: Exploring Our Amazing World (Grades 4–5)

Get ready to explore, experiment, and discover! In this dynamic science class, students will investigate the world around them—from matter and energy to the systems that support living things. We’ll travel through space with astronomy, dive into the oceans with oceanography, and dig into Earth’s layers with geology and more.

Learning happens through a blend of reading, discussion, and hands-on experiments that bring science concepts to life. Students are encouraged to ask questions, test  ideas, and learn by doing. And yes… messy science is part of the adventure!

Social Studies: Exploring the United States (Grades 4-5)

In this hands-on course, students will explore the United States while learning how our country works and how communities grow and thrive. Topics include geography, culture, government, and economics, helping students understand what makes each place special.

Students will discover the people who support their communities—such as leaders,  workers, and everyday citizens—and learn how everyone contributes. We will also  study earning, saving, and spending, along with the importance of goods, resources, and economic choices.

Throughout the course, students will learn about their rights and responsibilities and how they can make a positive impact as citizens. Through projects, discussions, and activities, students will gain a deeper understanding of the United States and their role in it.

Pre-requisite: Students should be able to read and write at beginning of year 4th grade level.

Homework

Each class will have approximately 90 minutes of homework each week. When divided across the four days we are not in class, this works out to about 20–25 minutes of work per weekday for each class. If you choose to complete over a three-day period, students can expect about 30 minutes of work per class.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
