Art is such an important part of students’ growth and development.

Art is not only a way to express our creativity but also our emotions.

It can lower stress and even help students feel socially connected.

But there are SO MANY ways to make art!

This class will introduce your student to multiple art media and give them a chance to see what type of art they connect with.

We will explore making art projects using:

acrylics,

watercolors,

oil pastels,

colored pencils,

charcoal pencils,

paper art,

clay,

mixed media,

optical illusion art,

and 3-D art.

While doing this, we will also learn about some of the elements and principles of art,

such as color theory,

value,

composition,

and more.

At the end of the year, students will showcase some of their art in our annual Art Show!

Students should provide a portfolio to keep their paper projects safe.

For storage purposes, please do not provide a portfolio larger than 11x14 size. And each student should also provide a pad of multimedia drawing paper in 9x12 size. These will all be kept in the classroom for use. I always try to have extra small projects or drawing exercises for students who finish early, while others are still working, but your student may also bring their own sketchbook for extra time to draw if they would like.
